Winter is a time of year where we naturally want to wrap up warm and protect ourselves from the elements, but it doesn’t mean that you need to give up on your sense of style. If you’re a fashionista that loves to look good, don’t let the cold weather stop you. Here are a few of the ways you can stay cozy while looking chic!
Layer Up
Layering up is a great way to stay warm while enabling you to wear all of your favourite clothing pieces. Good thermals are nice and thin so won’t add bulk, but will trap in body heat. You can even buy them in flesh toned shades, which would still allow you to wear things like ripped jeans without it being obvious that you have a layer underneath. If you’re going to be outdoors, in extremely cold weather or for long periods, you can go a step further. Stay warm with this wool vest for example which would sit nicely under your coat, to add that much needed extra layer to protect you from the elements. At the very least, a simple cotton vest and a pair of tights under your outfits is better than nothing when it’s chilly outside, so this is a step well worth taking as we move into the coldest months of the year.
Find The Right Coat
It can sometimes be difficult finding the balance between style and practicality when it comes to coats, however in recent years this has become easy since puffer and padded coats are very on trend. If you go with a long puffer coat with a hood you’re sure to stay super warm and still look fashionable. If you don’t like to add too much bulk, be sure to shop around to find the right piece, something that looks smart while still providing a good level of warmth is essential. You’re often better spending more money here as more expensive coats will tend to be made of better materials that are designed to keep you warm, as opposed to thinner varieties that are designed only with style in mind.
Choose Good Quality Footwear
Keeping your feet warm and dry is essential for staying warm overall, so don’t overlook your footwear when you’re creating your winter outfits. Ditch the canvas pumps and other flimsy shoes, go with good quality boots which will be much more weather resistant and will keep your feet warm. If you invest in decent leather boots in a classic style they will last you for years if you get them re heeled when needed and generally look after them. Go with flats rather than heels, they’ll be more practical and there’s less chance of you slipping over in rain or snow.
Utilise Accessories
Finally, scarves, hats and gloves are a way to add colour, pattern and texture to an outfit but of course they’re practical for the cold weather too. Utilise these accessories, choose cute pieces that match the rest of your outfit for the perfect finishing touch.
