There are still organized climbs on the arch of the Sydney Bridge for the most “daring”, who are determined to live the experience of visiting this attraction in all its glory.
The Cathedral of Our Lady is another of the impressive sights that surround Hyde Park. The neo-Gothic church building is located on the east side of the park and is the seat of the Archbishop of Sydney. This imposing building is the church with the most extended length in the whole country, while the two identical conical towers of the temple make it stand out from a long distance.
The foundations of the church were laid in 1868 according to the building plan of Archbishop Polding, while the construction of three more buildings preceded the site: the first church of the Virgin, which was destroyed by fire, which erupted on June 29, 1865, a wooden structure which was a temporary, initial stage in the construction of the existing building and burned down in the summer of 1869 and St. Mary’s School.
At 309 meters, Sydney Tower is the tallest building in the city and the second tallest tower in the entire Southern Hemisphere. Known to Sydney residents by various names, such as Sydney Tower, Centrepoint Tower, AMP Tower, Westfield Centrepoint Tower or Sydney Skytower, construction began in 1975, and access to the general public opened in August 1981.
The golden turret at the top has a capacity of 960 people and includes two levels of restaurants, a cafeteria, an observation deck (Sydney Tower Eye) and two levels of telecommunications. Entrance to the observatory is allowed by purchasing a ticket at the entrance or online, the price of which starts at $ 19.60 for adults, while there is also the option to enjoy the stunning view, which offers the attraction with a 45-minute tour around the tower.
Taronga Zoo is located in the Sydney Harbor area in the Mosman suburb and has operated since 1916. It is divided into eight zoogeographical areas and hosts over 4000 animals of 350 different species in a total area of 280 acres.
The garden receives guests every day from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and the visitor can get here by ferry, while his entrance ticket from Pier 4 to the Circular Quay may have already been purchased before boarding. Otherwise, bus lines from all over the city arrive in the garden. However, it is recommended to choose a rental vehicle, which will offer you flexibility and freedom of movement.
