If you have small kids, then you know that something is wrong when there is silence in the house. Five minutes of silence can translate into two hours for you to clean up various messes. Kids have a lot of energy, and they are extremely curious.
This combination is often deadly, not in the real sense, of course. If you do not want to go crazy, and also want your kids to be safe, you need to find things for them to do in order to keep them busy and their minds occupied.
Snack food
Snack foods can be an idea you might want to try. All you have to do is to place your child in the high chair and provide plenty of snack food to eat like cheerios, bananas, or raisins. There are usually enjoyed by children everywhere.
Snacking on the finger food can keep your toddler entertained for a few minutes, while you perform another task, like helping your other kid with a math problem, for example.
Finger paint
God forbid for a small kid to find paint! Leaving aside the fact that he or she might ingest it, removing paint from walls, furniture, electrical appliances, and whatever else you might think of is a tedious job.
All children seem to like playing with stuff that makes them dirty such as paint, flour, mud, toothpaste, or other similar items. In this sense, edible paint was invented. Allowing your child to play with this type of paint in a controlled environment can be a lot of fun for both your toddler and yourself.
Yes, you will need to give him or her a bath afterward, but no additional work and sweat will be required from your part. Moreover, it will keep your kid occupied and entertained for quite a while. This also consumes some of that rich energy and allows better rest.
Books
Of course, different ages and stages in a child’s development require different types of activities. Reading to your child even from a very early age makes him/her associate books with love and affection.
For very small children, interactive books are a great choice. They include various images, sounds, and other cool features. From these, they can learn how animals look like and what they are called, nature elements, and later on, letters and numbers, and so on. They can keep your child busy for long periods.
And, when you have the time, read him or her a bedtime story. It does not matter that they do not understand a word you say yet because they love listening to your voice. Later on, when they learn how to read, they may start reading books, which is an excellent and constructive way for a kid to spend time.
Car wash
Car washing can be a great idea to keep your kids busy. The whole family can participate with kids of almost any age. Provide them the necessary tools, and they will have the time of their life.
Of course, it is recommended to keep this in mind as a summer activity because they will get wet – from head to toes, there is no doubt about it.
Nature
Spending time with your kids surrounded by nature is an excellent way to keep them entertained, busy, and it allows them to consume energy. They have enough space to run, and they can scream as loud as they want because there are no neighbors to bother. Also, the choices are many.
You can go for short trips fishing, birdwatching, gathering various types of plants, you name it! You can also have longer trips with the tent, and teach your kids how to make fire, how to organize – again, the options are endless. If you have a little imagination, you can keep your kids occupied for the entire day, and enjoy hours of silence while they are sleeping.
The night sky
Many children like watching the stars at night, learning about constellations, and perhaps even seeing falling stars. You can take things a little bit further, and get your kid an automatic telescope.
Depending on the model, he or she can use it not only to watch stars. Not only it can keep your toddler busy, but it can also teach him or her a lot of interesting things.
