Why the bathroom is the most distracting room in the house?
Most people have a love-hate relationship with their bathrooms. While it is one of the easiest rooms to decorate, paint, and basically turn into a whimsical wonderland, it is also the easiest room to distract from the rest of the house. Plumbing is just plain stressful, and if you rent your home, it’s hard to get your landlord to actually fix spewing sinks and broken toilets. The bathroom is also noisy, maybe thanks to the plumbing, but also maybe in part because of your husband who insists on getting up in the middle of the night. With all of that in mind, here are some ways to make your love-hate relationship with your bathroom a mostly love one:
Soundproof. This is especially important if you have parties or guests often, because no one wants to hear someone going to the bathroom in the middle of dinner. You can either hire someone to soundproof the room for you or you can do it DIY, with soundproof dry wall layers. Or, if you’re really lazy, you can just put a mattress or something similar up against one of the walls, which will soak up a lot of the sound.
Get a better toilet. Maybe the root of all of your problems is that your toilet gets stopped up twice a week, the chain gets caught, or it floods. If this is the case, definitely get a new toilet. Excessive problems will just come back each time you “fix” them, and a more permanent solution is important to have. You could also just treat yourself to a new toilet seat. This TOTO SS114 SoftClose Toilet Seat is great, especially in the winter when plastic seat covers are as cold as the ice on the roads.
New faucets. Much like the toilet dilemma, if your faucets spew, make a lot of noise, or leak, it’s time to invest in new ones. You can totally upgrade your bathroom in the process by just changing the faucets. These are definitely showerheads, but who doesn’t want Hello Kitty faucets in their bathroom? They would be perfect for a kid’s bathroom, or yours. A quick Google search will bring up tons of unique faucets, so start searching now.
