We are all unique and this is the detail that dictates everything we do. For example, even if we all, more or less, live in the same types of homes, we try to make them unique through size, design and location. Some people go even further and have rather crazy ideas of how their homes should look like. The following examples feature the strangest transformations that people designed for their homes.
This home can be found in Portland. It was originally a 1949 Portland sleeper car and it was transformed into a cozy home. It’s a 807 square foot space with 10 foot high ceilings and the interior is surprisingly inviting. It has a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a bedroom and they’re all lovely. The interior is modern and the kitchen is fully electrical. The bathroom has an incinerator toilet. It might be strange but it’s still just a cozy home.
The airplane hotel can be found in Costa Rica. It was made from a 727 fuselage that had to be transported piece by piece from the San Jose airport. It wasn’t easy but it was all worth it in the end. The plane is currently sitting on a pedestal 50 feet above the beach. It has two bedrooms, a TV area, a kitchenette, a dining area, a master bathroom and a balcony on the wing. It must be very interesting to spend time in an airplane hotel but that’s not even the best part. The views from there are amazing.
The room was actually designed to look like a shipwrecked submarine. It wasn’t actually built out of a real submarine because it would have been basically impossible to get one. Nevertheless, it does look like the interior of one. It even has plutonium leaking torpedoes and a projector and screen. The custom sound system was also a very nice investment. The room was created using pieces of MDF which were sprayed with concrete and made to look like rusted steel beams. The interior is actually quite pleasant and inviting.{found on stuff}.
The transformation started in January 2005. Re-used and recycled materials were used whenever possible. The interior is quite small but it’s also beautiful. A mid-century look was chosen for the interior and, as you can see, there’s a nice mix of architectural elements. For the walls, a soft green shade was chosen and some of the furniture features the same color as well. It’s a color that look beautiful in combination with the wood features.{found on site}
The homes feature modern amenities but they maintain the rustic charm of the wagons. They have memory foam mattresses, 110 volt plugs, antique wooden stoves and pull-out dining tables. Some are built with the original antique wood spoke wheels. The canvas that covers these mobile homes should last around 10 years or wear and tear. This might not be the home you would envision for yourself but it wasn’t meant to be a full-time home anyway. It’s just a fun and unique thing some people like to have.{found on Idaho Sheep Camp}.
